It was the most awesome thing ever.

I had an office desk that didn't survive being transported downstairs by our moving company. The trash people threw it into the back of the truck (assembled and everything, but with a weak leg).

The sound was terrible as it compacted the desk, but the truck drove off a moment later and the ugly broken desk had vanished.

California is really over priced. (Lived there for 20 years.) They insist you recycle stuff, but the amount of water it takes to rinse the cans and jars cleans (at their over priced rates) almost negates any savings the state gets from recycling.Kimberlee Turleyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04695299361596799423noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1655994867667952059.post-16197221350707579442012-02-22T14:40:14.800-08:002012-02-22T14:40:14.800-08:00Love so much you Mommy.Love so much you Mommy.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1655994867667952059.post-27565264400624397552012-02-22T07:04:18.342-08:002012-02-22T07:04:18.342-08:00I can see you, waving up at her, so little on the ...I can see you, waving up at her, so little on the beach. You are doing...Girlfriend, I am sooo proud of you! You are doing something really amazing.

I am in your boat, but I am writing a memoir.

Here's a funny story about query letters.

I sat down and wrote for 3 or 4 hours. I then decided that I would do my research and see how I needed to change my query letter. I tinkered and tinkered and thought that I had the basic structure, but I couldn't get my voice. My letter was standard business and my memoir is the antithesis of standard business. I hemmed and hawed, tweaked and tweaked some more and then randomly stroked a key that didn't want stroking and the whole damn thing disappeared. Gone. I didn't panic immediately. I searched my saved drafts file and did deep breathing. Still nothing. Then I burst into tears and said every bad word I know. Then I tried calling my husband to see if he could help, but of course, I couldn't get him on the phone. Then, I came back to the computer and let my anger spew all over the place.

Then, I realized that I had found my voice. I was very relieved, but also found it both sad and humorous to find out that anger is such an integral part of who I am.

So I still lack some research. I need to know if there are any titles out there like mine and I need to know what else is available in memoir of p.o.'d minority females. It's tough to do all the way from Chile.

I can't recommend enough that you find a good writer's group. Mine is a supportive but very honest group. One woman actually told me that she didn't think anyone who would read my book would actually be a reader. She changed her mind, though, after she understood my approach and she encouraged me to query to see if I can get some help.

I will check your blog from time to time, but be sure to facebook me anytime if there's something that you want to bat around.

Un abrazo fuerte,

Danette

ps A great book with bullying as a theme is China Boy. I can't remember the author, but I think he was a Lee. It's set in San Francisco.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1655994867667952059.post-53085584408033562902010-09-02T07:04:31.289-07:002010-09-02T07:04:31.289-07:00We are so excited for you and hope the adventure i...We are so excited for you and hope the adventure is going well thus far!
